If you found your way here, I'm really glad you did.

Whether today is your first day without alcohol or another substance, your hundredth, or you're simply wondering if life could look different, I want you to know that you're welcome here. This isn't a place for perfection or shame, and it's certainly not a place where I'll pretend to have all the answers.

The Rising Shelf is a collection of the things that helped me throughout my own sobriety journey. Some are practical, some are reflective, and some are things I wish someone had shared with me when I was just beginning. That said, I also know that no two journeys are the same. I wasn't ready to see what sobriety looked like through someone else's eyes. I've always been someone who leads more than follows, and I didn't want to carry the projections, expectations, or experiences of others. This was a path I needed to navigate in my own way. I know many people don't move through recovery like that, and that's exactly why The Rising Shelf was born.

Take what resonates with you, and leave behind what doesn't. Come back whenever you need a reminder that progress isn't measured by someone else's expectations, but by your willingness to begin again, however many times that may be.

On June 30, 2026, I celebrated two years of sobriety. What I've learned is that recovery isn't only about removing the coping mechanism, but about discovering who you truly are when you release the shackles that kept you bound to what was standing between you and the life waiting for you. When you choose yourself, let it be about finding joy in ordinary moments, creating new routines, learning who you are without numbing your emotions, and realizing that you're capable of so much more than you once believed.

Everything you'll find here has been created with that hope in mind.

I'm not a therapist or a recovery professional. Everything you'll find here comes from my own journey, experiences, and the lessons I learned along the way.
